Meet Our Team
Kasama is a woman-owned and operated community studio. We are passionate about ceramics, education, and fun!
Alden (she/her)
Founder & Principal
Alden is the Founding Principal of Kasama Clay. From her childhood, Alden learned to value the simple treasures found in her surroundings for it brought her joy at its purest form. As a Filipina immigrant, her culture taught her the importance of gratitude, community and the power of the collective which has made her into an empowered artist today. Alden received her BA in Ceramics and Art History with honors at San Francisco State University. She practices her art and values by nurturing the studios she operates as safe spaces through curiosity, playfulness, and intention.
Lena (she/her)
Instructor
Lena Klein is a California artist, born and raised in Los Angeles and currently based in San Francisco. Lena’s work is both sculptural and functional, as she tries to toe the line between beauty and the grotesque, adding her own playfulness and humor to clay forms. She discovered her love of clay in college, feeding a desire to get her hands dirty and create something physical in a digital world. In May 2026 she’ll graduate from the University of San Francisco with a BA in Fine Arts.
Karla (she/her)
Youth Program Coordinator & Instructor
Karla is passionate about art education and thrives in smaller community run spaces. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, but a trip to San Francisco captured her heart. She has spent time living abroad, working and studying in different parts of the world and has always been drawn back to the city. She finds inspiration in everyday life, the natural world, and her cultural background.
Kari (she/her)
Instructor
Kari’s ceramics journey started with making mud pies from three years old, and now she teaches all ages how to tap into their inner creativity and have fun with clay. She’s a Bay Area native who takes inspiration from the local flora and fauna, the California sun and all the shadows it makes, and San Francisco architecture.
